Handpicked kicks off 2025 with Ray Mono’s minimal masterclass ‘Capo’
The EP comes with two originals plus remixes by Mihai Popoviciu & Techu
HandpickedHandpicked, the sub-label of Music is 4 Lovers, sets the tone for 2025 with the release of Ray Mono's ‘Capo’ EP.
The four-track release features two original cuts from the seasoned artist, alongside remixes from Mihai Popoviciu and Techu.
Ray Mono, founder of the mono_cult brand, has already made a name for himself with previous releases on esteemed labels like Pleasure Zone, TRMNL, Moxy Music, and Dreams On Wax.
Now, with ‘Capo’, he delivers an EP that not only highlights his signature style but also pushes the boundaries of minimal and deep house music.
The EP opens with the title track, ‘Capo’, which is a masterclass in traditional minimalism. With its smooth grooves, deep undertones, and steady progression, the track is both soothing and playful, striking a perfect balance between energy and subtlety.
At over eight minutes, ‘Capo’ builds slowly, drawing listeners into its hypnotic rhythm while maintaining a light-hearted, accessible feel.
But it's ‘Afterhours’ that steals the show. This track is the heartbeat of the EP, with an unmistakable personality woven into every element. The subtle percussion flourishes elevate the track without overwhelming it, creating a space where every groove feels purposeful and every detail feels intentional.
