New design collection Gods of Synth celebrates electronic music icons

Illustrator and designer Andy Tuohy has unveiled a new print collection celebrating legendary figures in electronic music called Gods of Synth.

The 17 designs showcase artists such as The Prodigy, The Belleville Three, New Order, Depeche Mode, Gary Numan, Eurythmics, Devo, Stanton Warriors, Wendy Carlos and Delia Derbyshire in styles reminiscent of 80s era art.

Speaking about the collection, Andy said: “The new wave synth movement was a huge influence in my teenage years. It wasn’t just the music, it was the graphics and video imagery associated with the artists, it’s impossible to think of New Order without the record sleeves created by Peter Saville or the cool, arty European influences in the videos of the Eurythmics. These artists were pushing the limits of technology to create something unique that, 40 years later, still feels current and fresh.

“I have applied a similar 80’s practical electronics magazine style to reflect the nature of the music. Using a minimal palette of 2 – 3 colours and dot screening for tints.”

40cm x 40cm designs that are giclée printed on heavy weight Hahnemühle fine art paperare on sale for £130. There’s a limited edition run of 100 for each design, and the prints are signed by the respective artists they feature.
