Get a first glimpse at what Chi Ultralounge is going to look like

Since Bed Supperclub closed in 2013, Bangkok has been void of a chic venue to properly house dance music DJs while providing them with the same amenities that made playing or partying at Bed Supperclub an integral part of the Bangkok experience.

Well Bangkok residents and DJs from all over the world are now anticipating the opening of Chi Ultralounge this summer, which is a reincarnation of Bed Supperclub in that it’s rebuilding and renovating the original spaceship style structure.

New York City native Daryl Scott is the designer of the new concept and has said: “I figured since the former owners were dear friends, when they asked me to MC the [Bed Supperclub] closing, that’s when I thought, ‘Holy shit! Wouldn’t it be great to take on the original, disassemble it, relocate it and make it into something new?!”

The pieces had been stored in a warehouse until now where they are being erected a mere 100 meters away from the original location on Sukhumvit Soi 13.

But aside from the walls themselves, and perhaps the spirit, pretty much everything is going to change. “Nothing will be white,” says Scott. “The building will be metallic silver and in the middle of a futuristic Zen garden.”

Chi Ultralounge will have a strong futuristic Asian theme that incorporates elements of oriental mysticism with “a dash of James Brown’s funk ‘n soul, and topped off with a sprinkling of the treasures of Aladdin’s cave.”

Much like its beloved predecessor, the space will continue to be split into a restaurant and nightclub, with meticulous planning going into the menu and as well as the dining layout.

But mostly importantly, Chi’s music policy will be strictly free of commercial EDM and pop hip-hop and instead embrace the pioneering role that Bed once held in the city for proper house music and also reviving its much loved weekly events. The DJ booth, seen below, will be gold plated and raised by giant spiritual arms that symbolize eternal enlightenment.

“It’s a labor of love I tell you,” adds Scott. “And the end result will be a staggering effort that both pays homage to its beloved predecessor, and will blaze a trail for next-level clubbing in this city I love for years to come.”

Chi Ultralounge is scheduled to open in the summer of 2015. Stay tuned for details.
