Filipino artist Clinton Kane steals a spotlight moment in Martin Garrix's new release

Recently shifting from electro house to dance-pop, Martin Garrix has actually been testing the waters since 2016 where he collaborated with pop singer Bebe Rexha on 'In The Name Of Love'. After releasing several successful pop-infused electronic tunes, Martin Garrix has just dropped another electronic ballad, as well as his first track in the new decade, which features rising Filipino talent Clinton Kane.

The half Norwegian and half Filipino singer and songwriter makes his EDM debut in Garrix's new release called 'Drown'. His emotive and stand-out vocals are layered over top of the Dutch DJ's signature upbeats and catchy tune style. The track is perfect for easing into a Friday night. Listen to 'Drown' below:

Garrix has described the 20-year-old as a "genius" and "crazily talented" which should certainly help skyrocket his career (Garrix has a knack for discovering talent, even featuring pop star Dua Lipa before she was famous). Even without being vetted by Garrix, Kane is a worthy addition to the world of music. He taught himself to sing and play instruments like the piano, guitar and drums when he was just a teenage and putting out cover songs on YouTube. Later, his emotive vocals gained him some media attention and eventually led him to Columbia, the same label that manages heavyweight artists like The Chainsmokers and Daft Punk. This is also where he was discovered by Garrix and led to the subsequent collaboration.

We had hoped to hear Garrix play the tune live on his headlining spot at Ultra, but after the festival was cancelled this week, we'll have to wait a little longer before hearing this collaboration performed live.

'Drown' by Martin Garrix feat. Clinton Kane is out on February 27.
