Face Records Nagoya marks store opening with "Record Sleeve Set" giveaway
The flagship product has been a staple of vinyl lovers for over 30 years
Japanese independent record store Face Records will welcome its sixth outlet located in Nagoya’s Chunichi Building on April 23, 2024.
The new store follows previous ones in Kyoto, Tokyo’s Shibuya and Miyashita Park, Sapporo, plus one in New York City.
In commemoration of the opening, Face Records will be giving away its "Record Sleeve Set" to 758 customers who purchase JPY5,500 (including tax) or more worth of products at the new Face Record Nagoya store.
The "Record Sleeve" is a flagship product of Face Records that has sold over two million pieces. Designed to accommodate inner sleeves, it offers record enthusiasts a durable solution to protect their vinyl.
For over 30 years, it has been cherished by vinyl enthusiasts, offering both at-home storage and essential care for DJs on the go, preventing damage and preserving the quality of their records.
Face Records, established in 1994, traces the origin of its iconic cardboard sleeve back about two years prior.

Shinichi Takei, record aficionado and Managing Director of FTF INC. (the company that operates Face Records), discovered these unique sleeves while purchasing used reggae records in London. “The British-made cardboard sleeves that came with the records I bought there were so rare that I would sometimes buy records just for the sleeves,” he states.
Unable to afford many due to their cost, Takei collaborated with a paper factory to develop and produce the now-famous cardboard sleeves included with Face Records purchases.

In addition to LPs, Takei also recognised the need for enhanced packaging for 7-inch records, which generally come in poor packaging.
Face Records aims to blend practicality and affordability by consistently enhancing its products to cater to record collectors' needs while remaining accessible.
Face Records Nagoya opens on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 and is located at Chunichi Building 2F, 4-1-1 Sakae, Naka-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. Follow its official Instagram here.
