EXTRA Festival returns to Taiwan's shores with a weekend of electronic grooves

For the third year running, EXTRA Festival is set to bring an intimate electronic music event to the stunning shores of Taiwan. The two-day festival starts on November 30 at the peninsula by Baisha Bay in New Taipei City. EXTRA offers four different stages including a waterfront stage, a warehouse stage, a splash stage (poolside, naturally) and the dream stage, with each catering to a different genre of electronic music (except EDM, there is no EDM here).

The weekend programme will see French techno producer Raär play alongside MIIIA, a China-based artist pushing the boundaries of Shanghai’s underground music scene, and Herr Krank, a jazzy piano soloist. But at its essence, EXTRA is an Asian affair, fronted by local heroes such as Dark Lo, DJ NiNI and Gary Chen amongst others. See the full line-up below.

With the Asian festival scene typically dominated by the usual big name EDM imports, it’s refreshing to see more and more local-oriented electronic music events like EXTRA popping up on the grid. If you happen to be near Taiwan this week, a place we strongly suggest visiting, this one-of-a-kind event is worthy destination to for music fans to check out.

Extra Festival takes place on November 30 to December 1. Find more information on the event page here and tickets here.
