Emily Eavis teases headliners and legends slot for Glastonbury Festival 2024
The Glastonbury organiser hinted at a “really big” US headliner next year
Glastonbury co-organiser Emily Eavis has teased next year’s headliners, hinting at a “really big” female headliner from the US.
Eavis also dropped hints that there could be two female headliners next year, compared to this year’s all-male headline slots, which received criticism and was put down to a “pipeline issue” by Eavis.
Speaking to Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw on the pair’s Sidetracked podcast, Eavis explained that she remains “really passionate about gender split”, adding: “Everybody who knows, knows that it's top of my list. I'm always trying to make it the most balanced, diverse bill.”
She went on to add that next year’s annual event could see two female headliners out of four, confirming: “certainly I can say that the legend is female.”

“It is difficult with female artists because there aren't enough headliners, but we're also creating them by putting bands [and] female artists on smaller stages and bringing them through all the time,” she said. “So I feel like the pool is going to be bigger soon.”
Although the line-up for Glastonbury 2024 has yet to be announced, Eavis went on to say that the team are working on confirming artists, and received a call earlier this week about a “really big” US act who could step foot on the Pyramid Stage next year.
“2024 is still a little up in the air,” she said. “I thought it was kind of taking shape and then last week I just got a call, and this is what happens if you wait a little longer because quite often we’ll be booked up from July.”

“This year we’re holding out for a little bit longer, and last week I got a call from a really big American artist saying this person’s around next year. And I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is incredible’. Thank God we held the slot,” she said.
Fans predict Madonna could take on next year’s legend slot after Eavis posted a photo at her recent O2 show, and previously hinted: “Everybody knows that I've always wanted Madonna to play Glastonbury.”
According to the bookies, other artists predicted to headline Glastonbury 2024 include the Spice Girls, Dua Lipa, Rihanna, Coldplay, Dave, The 1975, Oasis, Foo Fighters, and Olivia Rodrigo.
