Elton John: “First thing I do in the morning is listen to dance music”
He also spoke out about ending AIDS stigma in a new interview
Elton John has recently revealed on the Glitterbox radio show, hosted by Melvo Baptiste, that he starts everyday by "listening to dance music in the shower".
The radio episode, which featured special guest Elton John, touched on topics such as music making, music consumption, the AIDS epidemic and Sir Elton John's non-profit organisation Elton John AIDS Foundation.
They also speak about Elton's recent release with Dua Lipa, 'Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)', which was No1 on the Billboard Dance and Electronic Music chart.
Speaking on dance music, Elton John said: "I love dance music and any chance I get to play it I will. It’s a much maligned musical genre and always has been since disco started.
"First thing I do when I have a shower in the morning is listen to dance music. Glitterbox is usually one of the things I play."
Filmed just ahead of World AIDS Day, Elton also speaks about what it was like at the start of the aid epidemic; his inspirations behind starting the foundation; why education is so important; and how we need to battle against AIDS stigma.
Speaking on his motivation behind setting up the foundation, Elton said: "When I got sober in 1990 I decided that I had to do something about the aids situation, as I didn’t feel like I did enough in the 1980s
"When you take a lot of drugs and you’re in a different world, you’re not the real world, so when I gave up all that nonsense, I decided that I had to do something and give something back.
"When we set up the Elton John Aids Foundation it was a very important time in my life, and it still is."
