Legendary disco artist Donna Summer has been posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame.

Summer was inducted at a Los Angeles ceremony on Monday (December 15) alongside fellow artists including LL Cool J, Taylor Swift, and David Byrne.

Donna Summer’s co-writer, Pete Bellotte, who is responsible for hit tracks including ‘I Feel Love’ and ‘Hot Stuff’ alongside the singer and Giorgio Moroder, was also a non-performing nominee at this year’s induction.

The ceremony was attended by Summer’s husband, Bruce Sudano, and their daughters, Brooklyn and Amanda. Speaking at the time, Sudano said he knew just “how important” the award would have been to her.

“With all the accolades that she received over her career, being respected as a songwriter was always the thing that she felt was overlooked," he said. "So for her to be accepted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, I know that she’s very happy somewhere."

Donna Summer was previously amongst eight inductees into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2013, nominated under the performer category just a year after her passing in May 2012.

Earlier this year, OutKast were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as part of its Class Of 2025, alongside the likes of The White Stripes, Cyndi Lauper, and more.

Previous inductees include A Tribe Called Quest, David Bowie, Chaka Khan, DJ Kool Herc, Kate Bush, Gil Scott-Heron, and Kraftwerk, who were finally inducted in 2021 after being nominated six times for the award, and denied on every occasion.
