Master diggers Diplomats Of Soul bring their cultured sound to Bangkok's FKA Black Amber

British DJ & production duo Diplomats Of Soul are set to bring their cultured vinyl digs to Bangkok's FKA Black Amber bar on Saturday, April 1.

Ralph Tee and Mike Allin have made waves under the Diplomats Of Soul moniker thanks to a series of acclaimed nu-soul and jazz releases, having worked with a selection of esteemed players to reinvent classics from the jazz, funk and soul cannon. Collaborating with the likes of Jean-Paul 'Bluey' Maunick of Incognito (and more recently, one half of the STR4TA project alongside Giles Peterson) and the late, great vocalist, Noel McKoy, the pairing pair lovingly breathed new life into songs including Donny Hathaway's 'Some Day (We'll All Be Free), James Mason's 'Sweet Power Your Embrace' among many other pearls.

Both seasoned selectors, between them they've hosted radio shows on Jazz FM and Solar Radio and performed at countless events, venues, and festivals, including Ronnie Scotts, The Standard, Bangkok. Encompassing far-reaching musical textures, including jazz, Latin, soul, funk, disco, soulful house and more, they embrace good music in all its forms, carefully drawing on decades of digging experience to set the soul-heavy mood.

Mike Allin is a name musically-inclined Bangkokians are likely to be familiar with, with the longtime Thai Capital resident a beloved feature of the city's esoteric music community. Ralph Tee, meanwhile, flies in especially for the show, with Diplomats Of Soul making a rare Asian appearance at one of Bangkok's most musically adventurous night spots. The Thong Lo-based venue is an intimate haven for underground music lovers, regularly playing host to eclectic, vinyl-led selections on one of the city's most alluring sound systems.
