Danny Tenaglia is auctioning off rare DJ and production gear

Danny Tenaglia is auctioning off rare DJ and production gear from his collection this month.

In an announcement on Instagram, the legendary New York DJ shared a video of himself rollerblading around his eyewatering studio complete with stacks of records and towers of drum machines and synths, writing: "My DJ and Production career has spanned close to 50 years now, and over that time, I’ve accumulated a vast collection of Records. Production Equipment, DJ Gear, and Memorabilia that hold so many dear memories very close to my heart."

Earlier this year, Tenaglia revealed that he had been diagnosed with colon cancer adding that he was immediately put on six weeks of radiation therapy.

Having been forced to cancel a number of appearances due to fighting the illness, he said at the time that as he is “out of work” he would be selling his studio equipment.

The auction is running until the end of the month and includes his Roland TR-909, an EMU SP-1200, an Oberheim DMX Midi and much more.

In the statement, Tenaglia says: “What would make me the most happy is if this massive record collection and various pieces of studio gear and DJ equipment can find a new loving home where they will continue to be appreciated and used. For the many of you who have asked and showed interest in purchasing some of this equipment, this is the opportunity to make it yours.”

"I have so much stuff between DJ gear and keyboards and drum machines and records that I've decided it's time," he explains. "It just sits down here. When we make new songs a lot of it doesn't even get used. So I think it's time for me to have these fall into the hands of someone who will appreciate them as much as I have over the years."

He adds: "I'll be 63 soon. I'm going into five decades of being a DJ. It's time for me to find new homes for these amazing pieces of gear."
