From hidden sustainable art parks to rooftops and junk boats, Hong Kong event organiser Omni has announced the latest from its series of outdoor electronic music events with Omni Field.

Nestled on a working rice farm that has over a hundred years of history, Omni Field takes place on May 27 and 28 with 30 DJs playing a range of house, techno and bass across a two-stage set-up.

While the exact location will only be revealed to ticket holders before the event, we do know that the event site is conveniently tucked away in a stunning valley in the more agricultural New Territories area of Hong Kong. In this sanctified environment, the organisers aim to invoke a genuine relationship between the harmonious nature of the near-ancient rice farm and the connection it’s built with mankind over centuries.

Speaking to Mixmag Asia about the importance of showcasing this vital slice of Hong Kong’s heritage, Omni Agency's co-founder Adam Wright tells us, “In Chinese culture, rice symbolises a link between heaven and earth, and its importance can be seen in the character for rice (米), which is the foundation of the character for Qi (氣), the vital life force and energy that surrounds and moves through us all.”

A quick look at the spectacular illustrative artwork by Omni Agency’s Petra Greening, gives a hint at the homage to Hong Kong’s historic culture this event intends to convey.

Before the DJs get to action, the event’s programme includes free guided tours of the farm where you can learn about rice cultivation and organic farming, and join a professionally guided foraging tour to hunt for wild edibles. As a two-day event that has music running for 24 hours, the organisers encourage attendees to make use of the campsite which has access to clean and modern toilets and showers.

The line-up includes a who’s who of Hong Kong’s top electronic selectors; the Field Stage will host Ani Phoebe, Arun R, A Squared, Casey Anderson, Chingyi, Darka, Dan Neo, JayMe, Jeremy Cheung, Jo D, Marco Yu, Slimefest and Teng. The bass-fuelled Omni Stage will see Changa, Deasy, DJ Fu, Just Bee, J Fung, Fergus, Kief E, DJ Lovely, Magnetic Soul, Mengzy, MMEE and Rogue Motion.
