Bob Moses draw on uncertainty & duality for new album ‘The Silence in Between’
'The Silence in Between' is out now on Astralwerks
Dancefloor pop gurus Bob Moses dropped their latest studio album ‘The Silence in Between’ this past Friday, 4 March on UMG’s dance music imprint Astralwerks.
Highlighted by the concept of duality where darkness and light play off each other, ‘The Silence in Between’ is set in a precedent of uncertainty.
One half of the band, Tom Howie, spoke about the album process saying, ”Making this album was a way for us to process what we’d been going through and figure out how to move forward. We lost a good friend during the pandemic, I had my first child, Jimmy’s parents went through a divorce, and there were so many other world-shaking things happening around us. We were dealing with a lot of fear and uncertainty, and music became like our life raft. It allowed us to really focus on the purity and the magic of our working relationship, to get back to trusting our instincts and just be as honest as possible.”
'Broken Belief' is a stark example of the darker half of their duality theme where a sinister vocal performance from Howie assumes the role of an apocalyptic preacher. His band member Jim Vallance comments, “When there’s so much negativity and uncertainty you’ve got to find a way to push through because otherwise, everything crumbles into nihilism.”
Throughout the album, Bob Moses have delivered an all-rounded album fit for a pop-fuelled dance floor, crossing over elements of modern deep house, 90s alt-rock.
