BLAQLYTE ROVER owner Motley Flower releases latest EP

Bangkok-based artist and owner of BLAQLYTE, Motley Flower, has released his latest EP titled ‘Pubpid Witthayu on Wireless Road’.

The five-tracker showcases the artist’s versatile range, blending Gorillaz-esque vocals with a mix of deep house, light industrial, and dark electro.

There’s even a heavy rock one thrown in for good measure (think Lil Uzi Vert’s ‘CS’).

It may seem convoluted and detrimental to the EP to have such a wide variety of sounds and styles, but Motley Flower keeps it on the rails throughout, remaining always exciting in his ideas and cohesive in his execution. The distinct identities of each offering are what give the EP its unique identity, making it a compelling listen from start to finish.

The more you listen, the EP transitions into deep, introspective house, followed by minimal, poolside beats that transition into infectious electro-funk.

The stand-out track for us is ‘What Do You Want’. It’s not the most complex of tracks, but the atmosphere evoked is golden. The spacey high-end vocals are impeccable, all anchored nicely by Motley’s original vocals, creating a moody, brooding space that absorbs you.

‘Milky Way’ also does a great job of crafting that same immersive vibe.

We caught up with Motely Flower, who said, "This EP was inspired by running BLAQ LYTE ROVER and BLAQ LYTE AIR club, and I wanted a sound that was made for our clubs. I got to create and express my energy and personality in this EP. It’s almost like an emotional bipolar rollercoaster experience".

There’s also talk of some further remixes set to follow the release—we’ll be watching.
