Bangkok’s The Emperor’s Secret prepares last slew of events before closing in April
The club’s founder cites pandemic-related issues as reasoning for ceased operation
Bangkok nightclub The Emperor’s Secret, located on the prominent Sukhumvit Soi 31, announced on February 26 that it will soon cease operations.
Founder and General Manager, Aurel Huber, is known for his in-depth knowledge and passion towards Chinese culture. Playing on that, he set up the venue to portray the secret ancient vault of Chinese dynasty, enticing crowds to revel in its majestic interior for over three years.
The Emperor’s Secret was able to bring over international headliners such as Spain’s Fatima Hajji, Ibiza’s Javier Gonzalez, Mexico’s Robbie Akbal, Germany’s Niconé, the UK’s Tommy Vercetti and more.
Speaking exclusively to Mixmag Asia, Huber mentions that the main reason for the club’s closure is pandemic-related — the venue opened just several weeks before the first lockdown.
“All in all we were 15 months closed before we could open without any lockdown restrictions anymore. Those 15 months without any governmental support for a brand new club which is not established meant that we lost a lot of our reserves but somehow we were able to make it until after,” Huber says.

Another reason was the strenuous process of recruitment and grooming of staff that were continuously coming and going.
That being said, the whole team at The Emperor’s Secret are also issuing a farewell and thank you statement to all who have had the experience of gracing its dancefloor:
“To all our guests, followers, supporters, friends and family out there; thanks for your support during the past couple of years. You made us strive to deliver outstanding nightlife experiences and hopefully we fulfilled your expectations. We’ve prepared a final line-up for our farewell month this March. If you have any chance to come by, let's have a last celebration behind our mystic walls. Thanks for your love! From your TES Team.”
