A$AP Rocky and Rihanna reveal their son is named after Wu-Tang Clan member
Baby RZA was revealed to the world for the first time on his birthday
A$AP Rocky and Rihanna have revealed that their first child is named after Wu-Tang Clan member RZA, People reports.
The couple kept their son’s name secret for a year until his first birthday on Saturday, May 13, where Rocky told fans that they’d been inspired by Wu-Tang Clan when naming their firstborn.
“‘WU TANG IZ 4 DA CHUREN’ HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY TO MY 1st BORN. RZA,” he posted on Instagram alongside a series of photos of baby RZA.

RZA takes from the stage name of hip-hop legend RZA Athelston Mayers, real name Robert Fitzgerald Diggs. The rapper, record producer, and actor has been the de facto leader of Wu-Tang Clan since their origins in 1992.
Rocky’s real name, Rakim Athelaston Mayers, is also based on a legendary rapper, Rakim. His sister Erika was named after Eric B. of the hip-hop duo Eric B. & Rakim.
Since baby RZA’s birth in 2022, both Rocky and Rihanna have kept his name quiet - first revealing photos of their child on a cover shoot with Vogue in February.

Last year, the pair held a “rave-themed” baby shower for RZA. The couple reportedly gave out colourful neon ‘90s-esque t-shirts with the words "rave shower" emblazoned on the front.
Rihanna is currently expecting a second child with Rocky. The singer revealed her baby bump at the Super Bowl halftime show in April, explaining beforehand that she was “thinking of bringing someone”, hinting to her second pregnancy.
