Ākāśa Gathering debuts 3,500 metres in the Himalayas this September

Ladakh will host the first edition of Ākāśa Gathering from September 4-6, 2026, in Karu, at roughly 3,500 metres in the Himalayas.

The three-day event is built around three things: music, wellness, and a number of workshops and experiences running alongside them.

Music-wise you can expect to hear folktronica, electronica, and downtempo, featuring a line-up comprising German producer Fejká, Iranian hand percussionist Mohammad Reza Mortazavi, Tresor resident Chloe Lula, Gonno, Kohra, AAGUU and more, spread across three stages.

“Music has always been more than entertainment. As a doctor, I’ve seen how deeply the nervous system responds to sound, stillness, and environment. Ākāśa Gathering was created as a space where wellness and music coexist organically in the vastness of Ladakh, guiding people from survival to presence, freedom, and joie de vivre”, says festival CEO, Dr. Falak Majid.

There’s also The Indus, the festival's wellness space, named after the river running through the region, with sessions lead by Mihir Jogh, Mini Shastri, Lotus Beings' Gillian and Grey, alongside Martin Dubois & Ashwini.

Alongside that runs a separate programme of workshops and experiences: cyanotype printing, Kashmiri naqashi, natural dyeing and weaving, a book club, stargazing, and a guided walk along the Indus.

“It is about the space in which experiences happen, not the experiences themselves. Other gatherings direct your attention outward to stages, crowds, and a spectacle. We ask you to turn your attention inward or simply let it rest in the open, luminous quality of awareness itself. Much like how ākāśa or ether underlies the other four elements without being altered by them,” mentions festival co-founder Fahad.

Organisers state they'll also be working with local communities on employment and production partnerships, and running the site with sustainable waste management practices.
