Air Festival returns to the idyllic Gili Islands in Bali in 2018
Welcome to paradise
From humble beginnings, Air Festival is the latest and greatest boutique festival that has flourished into something kind of wonderful and established itself as one of the foremost gatherings of visionaries, musicians, artists and dancers in the region. Being located in the Gili Islands has helped but the festival’s unique atmosphere, unparalleled private island vibe and forward thinking booking strategy has turned it into the talk of the town.
Air Festival takes place on Gili, a tiny island floating in the archipelago between Lombok and Bali where there are no cars, only horse-drawn carriages and bicycles and its two stages merge underground dance music culture with ceremony and sacredness.
While no line-up has been announced yet, last year’s strong line-up and rave reviews suggests this year will be even bigger. Names like Dana Ruh, Rampa and Shinedoe made the trip last year but also had heap of locals on the bill.
Committed to leaving no trace on the island, the folks behind Air Festival offer support to the local community in ways of waste removal and reduction, plus renovations at their local school. They will also be challenging themselves to go completely plastic free.
“The Air festival measures its success not only in ticket sales and dance floor eargasms but also in terms of how lightly we tread. As in 2017, they are virtually plastic free and as always they leave the beautiful Gili Air cleaner than it was before the festival started.”
The festival kicks off on March 31st until April 2nd and tickets can already be purchased here for $90.
