8-Bit Culprit's infectious breakbeat 'Refurbished Robots' lands on Ellum Audio
Faraz Ehsan aka 8-Bit Culprit is the first Indian music producer to release on Maceo Plex's iconic imprint
Faraz Ehsan aka 8-Bit Culprit’s latest single ‘Refurbished Robots’ arrives on Maceo Plex’s Ellum Audio imprint.
Landing on Part 2 of ‘Ellum Sampler Vol.3’, ‘Refurbished Robot’s is a refreshing and infectious breakbeat loaded with a fine blend of classic tones and cerebral textures.
The track’s focal point comes through Make Noise’s 0-COAST Semi-modular synthesizer, which the artist uses to elaborate a storyline of “mechanised beings (who) are struggling to find their place in a society dominated by technology.” He backs that up with classic tones from the Korg Ms-20, Roland's Juno, and the Moog.

As the first Indian music producer to release on Maceo Plex's iconic Ellum Audio, 8-Bit Culprit has carved a distinct space within the electronic music landscape. ‘Refurbished Robots’ is a testament to the artist's ability to break boundaries for himself.
‘Refurbished Robot’ sits alongside offerings from John Monkman, Headwaters and Christian Nielsen on ‘Ellum Sampler Vol.3 - Part 2’.
8-Bit Culprit says, “The profound impact of Maetrik's music, along with the iconic presence of Maceo Plex, deeply resonates with me. Their visionary approach, genre-defying sounds, and the sense of community fostered by Ellum constantly inspire me and remind me of the limitless possibilities that lie ahead in my own artistic journey. I’ve been a Maceo Plex fanboy for as long as I can remember, releasing music on his label is surreal.”
