Where are you answering these questions from?

As I write this I’m in the air, heading from Melbourne to Sydney for a show.

What’s the most unique hotel you’ve ever stayed in?

Burj Al Arab – Dubai

What was the worst job you had before you were a successful touring artist?

Working in the mailroom of a communications testing company

What’s your favorite band/music right now outside of the dance music industry?

Interpol and Death From Above 1979; both have new albums out. Also an ambient album that Daniel Kessler, the guitarist of Interpol, gave me which will be released sometime next year.

Do you have any pre-gig rituals or superstitions?

I like a good gym workout followed by a nice dinner with wine or sake, surrounded by friends.

What’s your lamest claim to fame besides deejaying?

Winning a Grammy Award

What’s the strangest cultural thing a promoter has ever taken you to do?

Nibbling on a bowl of chicken feet in China

What is one place that a visit home isn’t complete without?

Seeing my parents 

What are your hobbies besides DJing?

Food and films

The biggest regret or missed opportunity with respect to your music career?

Not working with Blixa Bargeld (from Einstürzende Neubauten) when I had the chance. 

Describe your dancing style?

I just kind of flow to the beat; there’s definitely no serious dancing involved.

Most bizarre situation you’ve ever found yourself in?

Ever after party I get dragged to can be deemed “bizarre.”

What is the most embarrassing thing you have ever done while performing?

I went thru a phase during Deep Dish where I would get on the microphone a lot; now I have an immediate allergic reaction whenever I see one in the booth.

What’s the best interview question you’ve ever been asked (besides this one)?

I can’t recall the last time i was asked a GOOD question…

The strangest thing you’ve ever eaten while on tour?

Ants in Brazil or shark cartilage in Japan

If you could spend a day with anyone on the planet, who would it be?

My girlfriend cause we’re always apart:-(

What do you like to spend your money on?

Food and clothing

Go-to hangover food?

Ramen

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever seen happening from the DJ booth?

The surgeon with the same tan jacket and white gloves dancing on a podium literally every week at Zouk in Singapore
