Welcome to ‘Mengzy Selects’, a monthly video column which features recently released tracks by producers and labels in Asia and across the Asian diaspora. Your host is Mengzy: a Hong Kong-based DJ and producer, PhD in musicology, music journalist and co-founder of Feed the Dragon.

IYRE and d‘n’b legend Makoto just teamed up on ‘SKYLINE FEVER’, one of the tracks powering the Hospital Records Radio station built into the new Forza Horizon 6 video game. Inspired by the Nissan Skyline GT-R and late night drives in Tokyo City, which is featured as an open world map, their collab joins the hallowed halls of dance music racing game soundtracks.

Mera Bhai recently remixed ‘Holy’ from 2021’s ‘Duniya Kya Hai’ by Lapgan, recording acoustic instrumentals and taking inspiration from French Touch classics like ‘Da Funk’ to make the downtempo burner his own.

Ahadadream, Dismantle and Jamakabi joined forces this month on heavyweight track ‘Left / Right’. Both producers’ styles come through clearly with Ahadadream’s signature percussion and Dismantle’s unmistakable bass pressure providing the platform for grime don Jamakabi to do his thing.

Robert Chung aka Chug shared ‘Brighter Days’ on July 3 and it’s a gem showcasing liquid drum’n’bass excellence. The 4-track EP features two stunning vocal collabs: ‘Echoes of Yesterday’ with Canadian-Filipino singer-songwriter Aileen De La Cruz and ‘Sunshine’ with English-Korean DJ and vocalist Oktae.
