Enigmatic realm of fungi unveiled in new Björk-narrated IMAX documentary

Following the success of the 2021 Netflix documentary Fantastic Fungi directed by Louie Schwartzberg, which unveiled the hidden language of mushrooms, a new film is set to make its way to the big screen.

A new documentary film narrated by Björk has been released exploring the hidden world of fungi.

Created by Definition Studios, the film is titled Fungi: The Web of Life and with mycologist Dr. Merlin Sheldrake, author of the New York Times bestseller Entangled Life, serving as both a prominent personality and an ambassador for the film.

The documentary is a blend of stunning cinematography, music, and scientific exploration. It delves into the intricate world of fungi, including footage from some of the largest and oldest temperate rainforests on Earth, revealing its deep connection to all life on land and the countless possibilities it offers for our future.

Fungi: The Web of Life is presented in 3D format and brought to life by an esteemed creative team. Iconic time-lapse photographers Steve Axford and Catherine Marciniak, renowned for their remarkable work spanning over a decade, have infused their visionary artistry into this cinematic piece.

“The looks of these mushrooms are so bizarre and stunning. I hope it’s an entertaining visual experience, a vivid encounter with nature for anyone seeing it,” director Joseph Nizeti mentioned in a press release.
