Masks For Music drop a reusable eco-mask with revenue going back into the music industry

The music industry has been shocked by the coronavirus.

But there are a couple people out there working hard at extracting the good from the bad and finding ways to help.

Masks For Music is one them. The initiative was founded as way to not just protect the music industry during this time but also protect the planet. Together with Bye Bye Plastic, they’ve created an eco-mask that is hand-made ethically in fair trade conditions from eco-cotton.

Most importantly, Masks For Music is not looking to turn a profit — the initiative is one that is solely committed to supporting the music industry. Here’s how sales are being divided: 50% of sales go directly to the artist, music industry professional, venue or organization. 21% goes towards production and packing costs, 19% for operational and distribution costs, and the final 10% is donated to charitable partners.

The initiative further looks to raise awareness surrounding the issue of single-use personal protective equipment (PPE), which has been extrapolate in the face of the pandemic. It’s been widely estimated that around 60% of disposable masks are ending up in the ocean. Not only was it important for the teams to come up with a solution, but also to educate and encourage a music-oriented audience to embrace a sustainable solution.
