Watch: Kiss Nuka manifests the feminine divine energy of 'Dakini' into an artistic music video

Meet Anushka, aka Kiss Nuka, singer, song-writer and composer from Mumbai, India, and let us introduce you to a world of wilderness she’s created, called ‘Dakini’.

Her primary goal in life is to attain a harmonious balance between the natural world and the human world, a distinction she agrees that we’ve forced upon ourselves to see.

Diving into the metaphysical understandings of dakini energy, Kiss Nuka takes inspiration from the female deity forms known as the sky dancers. Tapping into this part of ancient East Asian and Tibetan culture, Kiss Nuka hopes to tell a syncopated story through movement and music, and how the female divine power is essential to our future.

Through the power of feminism, ‘Dakini’ explores the relevance of our inner engineering and our capabilities. Referencing ‘Women Who Run With the Wolves’ by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Kiss Nuka shares with us a relevant quote: “Wildlife and the Wild Woman are both endangered species. It is not by accident that the pristine wildness of our planet disappears as our understanding of our own inner wild nature fades. It is not so difficult to comprehend why old forests and old women are viewed as not so important resources.”

Soundscaping through a drum ’n’ bass realm, Kiss Nuka evokes a sense of ethereal electronica — she brings out subtle Eastern nuances that take me back to early crossover productions by State of Bengal, Badmarsh & Shri and Tabla Beat Science.

Working together with her musically talented younger brother, Shikhar Yuvraj Manchanda aka Rākhis, on guitar, Kiss Nuka has taken her love for electronica and drum ’n’ bass and delivered a one of a kind experience, with a poignant message that gels a higher-powered philosophy with artistry.

The music video introduces us to Sucuri, a capoeira teacher and student — his bold yet fluid movements resonate with Kiss Nuka’s feminine alignment. Motion, serenity, awakening and connectivity all emerge as themes that Kiss Nuka & Sucuri emotionally put forward through bodily means.

Before diving into the video, Kiss Nuka leaves you with this quote from ‘Women Who Run With the Wolves’ about the definition of dakinis:

“They are the luminous, subtle, spiritual energy, the key, the gatekeeper, the guardian of the unconditioned state. If we are not willing to invite the dakini into our life, then we cannot enter these subtle states of mind. Sometimes the dakinis appear as messengers, sometimes as guides, and sometimes as protectors.”

Kiss Nuka ‘Dakini’ is out today, dive into her visual splendour below.
