Irie Bangkok brings the sizzling taste of Jamaica to the Thai Capital

Irie Bangkok has opened a vibrant Jamaican-themed restaurant and bar in the city’s iconic Khao San Road neighbourhood.

Fusing delectable jerk barbecue and street food dishes with an earthy Jamaican-fuelled soundtrack, the venue brings a unique taste of Caribbean heat to the Thai Capital. Opened last month by Orawan Suppasuphawat and Bradley Hart and born out of a shared love of Jamaican cuisine and culture, Irie Bangkok places equal attention to serving mouth-watering food and drink alongside vibe-heavy rhythms.

The Jamaican theme permeates the venue, with the Island’s classic and contemporary culture lovingly represented in every corner of the space. A DJ booth and sound system take pride of place, with homegrown talent as well as international guests enlisted to set the good time mood. Heavy hitters including Zed Bias have already graced the turntables here, while breaks specialists Dub Pistols fly in on January 14.

Providing irresistible sustenance to compliment the sounds, traditional Jamaican jerk and street food flavours dominate the menu. Jerk is arguably Jamaica’s best-known cuisine, with roots tracing as far back as the 1700s, and Irie Bangkok promises a fully-authentic dining experience. Artisanal seasoning and slow-paced cooking are used to culinary perfection, with each carefully prepared dish bursting with spice and flavour.

The new site is positioned in the thriving old town hub and renowned backpacker Mecca, Banglamphu — an area famous for its laid-back atmosphere and feel-good party vibrations. Featuring rustic bamboo furniture, brightly coloured decor and an inclusive atmosphere, Irie Bangkok looks set to become a beacon of Caribbean culture in the steaming Thai Capital.

Irie Bangkok is open from Wednesday to Monday from 12 pm to 2 am (closed Tuesday). The address is 48 Chakrabongse Rd, Khwaeng Talat Yot, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200. You can find more information here
