kyō in Singapore announces closure

Underground music institution kyō announced yesterday via Facebook that it would be closing the doors to its Singapore location.

"With a heavy heart, kyo will be taking a break from the scene to reassess our direction and realign our strategies. When the time is right, we hope to revisit the idea of kyo singapore in a new space. Meanwhile, we'll be focusing our efforts in Kyo KL, so we wish for your continued support in keeping the #letskyo spirit alive.

"From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for allowing us to be part of the dynamic music scene and part of the memories you've made at the basement for the past 4 years. Till we see you again on the dancefloor, always remember that music is love."

kyō has been recognized as a staple underground music institution in Singapore for many years now and grown to become a go-to party destination for clubbers who appreciated all kinds of music genres. The basement venue was located on Cecil Street in the Central Business District and has seen names like KiNK, Ben UFO, Mind Against and more.

The brand recently opened in Kuala Lumpur branch and will continue to operate there as well as manage kyō Records.
