Berghain resident Answer Code Request is taking on Asia this month

Ostgun Ton mainstay and Berghain resident Answer Code Request is en route to Asia for his first official tour of the region. He represents the industrial sounding techno that’s been rolling out of Berlin and beginning to gain major traction in clubs around the world over any kind of clichéd commercial dance music. He follows closely behind in the footsteps of fellows artists like Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock and Marcel Fengler, who have recently all found themselves on regular rotation throughout Asia.

The tour takes Answer Code Request all over the Far East, there being seven shows in total from Shanghai all the way through to Bali. The full schedule is below.

One of the highlights of the tour includes a stop in Taipei at the seminal club Korner. The promoter behind the event is a clandestine Taipei based record label called Smoke Machine and for the first time in Taiwan’s history – and perhaps all of Asia – they are officially throwing a 24-hour party.

The label and its events are very much influenced by Berlin’s techno music culture so it comes as little surprise that they’re giving a party this long a go. Of course, there is a stark contrast between the music cultures and behaviors of club goers in Asia and Europe but after seeing people lingering around the club long past 7am, they thought up a creative way that it could actually work.

“For this 24-hour party, techno people will go party on Saturday night and house people will go to Korner around noon on Sunday,” said Josh, who is responsible from programming and organization at Korner. “The timetable is split into three genres of music from techno to house and bass music. As long as it’s free entry after 6am, we think many people would like to see their favorite DJs throughout the weekend.”

“Of course some people won’t stay 24 hours, but some of them are ready for this.”

He also said that the club really wants to show the potential that the space has and wants to educate Taiwan on how people around the world party longer. They will also have a live stream camera set up above the DJ booth encouraging the local DJs to really showcase their abilities.

Answer Code Request plays Sunday February 21st (Saturday night/Sunday morning depending on how you want to look at it) at Korner between 2am and 7am.
