4 things you need to know about Smash HIFI

The long awaited album by Smash HIFI called ‘Order More Disorder’ is finally here. In fact, we've been waiting so long for it that the guys starting blaming things like FIFA 2014, German beer, bacon, searching for the perfect bass drum and more bacon as reasons for the delay every time we asked about it.

The multi-genre album was finally released on October 14th and is already topping charts in the UK and Europe. Needless to say, fans are also massively impressed and reviews are buzzing.

'Order More Disorder' features artists like Lexie Lee, KA aka Yung Coconut, Kym Mazelle,Legionnaires and Mc SirReal, while also crediting decades of music from all kinds of genres like Outkast's '2 Dope Boys in a Cadillac', Ed Rush, Optical & Fierce's 'Alien Girl', Stanton Warriors featuring Eska 'Still Here' and TNGHT's 'Higher Ground' as inspiration for the album.

Smash Hifi, which is one part Leeroy Thornhill and one part Marten Hørger, has said of the album: "The album is a reflection of the two of us, putting our musical tastes together, to create our own sound. Our Inspiration comes from the attitude, and feeling of artists such as Soul 2 Soul, Public Enemy, The Prodigy, Rage Against the Machine, all genres, rock, hip-hop, electro, disco, Funk. We are constantly listening to different styles of music for inspiration but are truly focused on sounding like Smash Hifi."

1. Remember The Prodigy?

The group is made up of The Prodigy’s Leeroy Thornhill and award-winning DJ and producer Marten Hørger.

2. They are based in Germany

Leeroy used to live in the UK but ended up moving to Germany permanently to focus on Smash HIFI. The guys used to share a penthouse in Stuttgart with a built-in studio. This is where 'Order More Disorder' was made.

3. They are a genre-spanning outfit

Smash HIFI was created as a outlet to play with any kind of music they love. No genres, no rules, everything goes - an attitude that really reflects in their album and their DJ sets.

4. Their list of collaborations is long

Combined the boys have a impressive track record of remixing for and collaborating with various artists like Stanton Warriors, Darren Emerson (Underworld), Westbam, Moby, Krafty Kuts, Maxim, Plump DJs, Lee Scratch Perry amongst many others.
