A knockoff Fabric has been spotted in China with a logo identical to the London nightclub

From fake iPhones to Ferraris, China is up to its old tricks again this time copying legendary nightlife institution Fabric.

Last week Dutch DJ and promoter Bram van Ravenhorst, who operates an underground club called Echo Bay in Chongqing, was taken aback when a club called Fabric opened in the city that boasts a logo almost identical to the one used by the iconic London nightclub of the same name. He snapped the photos below:

There isn't much difference in the logo either, if at all, so much so that they've even kept the all lowercase lettering next to the iconography. See the original Fabric logo from London below:

Not much else is known about the club except that it's in the Beibin Lu area of downtown Chongqing, EDM and commercial house play inside and that the club is decorated with China's infamous "sexy girls dancing" - essentially everything but what the bonafide Fabric stands for.

Fabric in London is arguably one of the most legendary and well-respected underground music clubs in the world. Opened in 1999, the club just celebrated its 18th anniversary in October after a brief closure that saw the global dance music community unite and raise over £330,000 to save the club earlier this year.

With its storied history and unparalleled status, perhaps it comes as no surprise that the club was counterfeited. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
